Canterbury Kindergarten: The best start for your child
A supportive and engaging Kindergarten education is an essential early step in children’s educational journey.
In a recent assessment by the Queensland Government, Canterbury Kindergarten was rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standard in all seven Quality Areas:
- Educational Program and Practice
- Children’s Health and Safety
- Physical Environment
- Staffing Arrangements
- Relationships with Children
- Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Communities
- Leadership and Service Management
The College draws upon the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines, based on the Early Years Learning Framework.
Children at Canterbury College Kindergarten are encouraged to question, discover, problem solve and create as they explore their world while developing a sense of belonging.
Pre-literacy and numeracy activities are provided. We also have a readers program, allowing children to visit the library and take home a book to read.
The Kindergarten’s adventure education playground has been purpose-built for sensory motor learning and early development.
Children may commence Kindergarten from age 3 attending either two, three or five days per week. The day starts at 8:30am and finishes at 3:15pm with before and after school care available outside of these hours at no extra cost.
Partnerships between the College and parents are valued at Canterbury and there are many opportunities for parents to participate in their children’s learning in the classroom or at events that occur throughout the year.
Proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government.
