So every year we accept scholarship applications from exceptional students.

Academic Scholarships

Academic Scholarship (including Mathematics Scholarship) Applications have closed.
Canterbury holds one Academic & Mathematics Scholarship Exam each year:
- Exams are set for each year level and students may apply for either Academic, or Academic and Mathematics.
- The Mathematics component is included in the overall exam, not offered separately. All students must sit the entire exam.
- Academic scholarships for entry into 2027 have closed.

Music Scholarships

For students entering Years 7–10 across 2027.
Canterbury College Music Programs
Band Ensembles: Year 5 Band, Junior Concert Band (Years 5-6), Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Big Band, Percussion Company (Years 7-12), Flute Choir, Clarinet Choir.
Chamber Music: Junior Violin Quartet, Junior String Quartets, Good Shepherd String Quartet, Canterbury String Quartets, Canterbury Quintet, Trio Volante, ARTISTrio, Trio Bellissimo.
Choral Ensembles: Junior Singers (Years 2-3), Junior School Choir (Years 4-6), Bella Voce – Girls Choir (Years 7-9), Cantabile – Girls Choir (Years 8-12), Taipan Tenors – Boys Vocal Group (Years 7-12), Chamber Choir (Years 10-12).
Rock School: Junior Guitar Ensemble (Years 4-6), Senior Guitar Ensemble (Years 7-12), Guitar Trio, Acoustic Girls Band (Years 7-12), Brekkie Buskers (Years 7-12), Rock Bands (Years 7-12).
String Ensembles: Year 3 Strings, All Star Strings (Year 3), Allegro Strings (Years 4-6), Synergy Strings (Years 7-9), Bravura Strings, Sinfonia Strings, Ritornello.
Canterbury holds various Music Scholarship Auditions each year:
- Younger students are invited to apply for Instrumental Music Scholarships if they have successfully attained an AMEB Level 4.
- A Music Scholarship Enrolment Application AND Music Scholarship Supplementary Information Form MUST be lodged to be eligible for an Enrolment Offer (please see below).

Sport Scholarships

For students entering Years 7–11 across 2027.
A limited number of Sport Scholarships are available each year to students who demonstrate:
- An outstanding ability in one or more sports that Canterbury participates in via an approved competition.
- Attainment of very high levels of representative honours in that sport or sports.
- The highest standards of behaviour, motivation and effort in their academic studies, as evidenced by their report cards.
- A willingness to contribute across a range of Canterbury sports and the ability to thrive in Canterbury’s high expectations school culture.
- CORE ELEMENTS: Skills | Resilience | Leadership | Teamwork | Inclusivity | High Performance | Holistic Development | Mentorship.

Sport Scholarships are generally available for:
Athletics, Basketball, Cricket (Boys), Cross Country, Football (Soccer), Hockey (Girls), Netball, Rugby, Rugby 7s, Swimming, Tennis, Touch Football (Girls) and Volleyball.
- Limited vacancies are available each year, so parents are encouraged to lodge Sport Scholarship Applications as soon as possible.
- You can submit additional sports results/times after your initial application has been lodged.
- Trials may be held for some sports and more information will be issued if this applies to your child.
- Students who apply to join the Netball Academy may receive a priority enrolment offer, a scholarship offer, both or neither.
- Entry is purely merit-based.
- A Sport Scholarship Enrolment Application AND Sport Scholarship Supplementary Information Form MUST be lodged to be eligible for an Enrolment Offer (please see below).

Health and Medical Science Pathways Scholarships

Year 9 entry in 2027
Canterbury College is pleased to introduce the Health and Medical Science Pathways Scholarship for students entering Year 9 in 2027.
This scholarship is designed for high achieving students with a strong aptitude in Science and Mathematics and a genuine interest in pursuing future pathways in medicine, dentistry or the health sciences. It supports students who are motivated, curious and committed to making a positive contribution to the wellbeing of others.
Recipients of this scholarship are enrolled in Canterbury’s Health and Medical Science Pathways Program, a distinctive pathway that provides early exposure to health and medical fields through authentic, future-focused learning experiences. Students benefit from structured mentoring, applied learning opportunities and targeted preparation for competitive tertiary entry.
A key feature of the program is a school-based UCAT and MMI preparation pathway, commencing in Year 10 and culminating in Medicine and Dentistry applications in Year 12. By commencing in Year 9, students are provided with a four-year runway through Senior School, allowing them to build depth in scientific thinking, research skills and academic habits essential for success in health-related university programs.
Students will also study the Year 9 specialist elective subject, Health and Medical Science.
Applications are strongly encouraged for students who:
• Demonstrate high academic achievement, particularly in Science and Mathematics
• Have a clear interest in medicine, dentistry or health science pathways
• Show strong character, service and alignment with Canterbury’s values
• Are willing to actively participate in the academic and co-curricular life of the College
The Health and Medical Science Pathways Scholarship complements Canterbury’s Academic Scholarships by offering specialised development for students seeking a clearly defined health and medical pathway.

Leadership & Community Excellence Scholarships

Leadership and Community scholarships for entry into 2027 have closed.
Leadership and Community applications for entry into 2028 will open in January 2027 via our website.
A limited number of Leadership & Community Excellence Scholarships are awarded each year to new students commencing in Year 7 at Canterbury.
Our College criteria when offering these scholarships is as follows:
- The holding of a senior leadership position in Primary/Junior School – Junior School Captain, Vice-Captain, Sports Captain, Arts Captain, SRC President etc.
- An ongoing contribution to community service, volunteering or participation in public awareness campaigns.
- The recognition of ‘servant leadership’ qualities by teachers or school leaders as cited in letters of recommendation or similar.
- The evidence required to support these scholarship applications may include: letters of appointment, certificates of achievement or recognition, and letters of recommendation by school leaders or teachers.
- An application under this category does not prevent students from applying for other scholarship categories.

Scholarship applications for Academic & Mathematics, Music, Sport and Leadership & Community Excellence are open at various times throughout the year.
If you are applying for scholarships across multiple areas – such as Academic and/or Music, and/or Sport, and/or Leadership, you only need to pay ONE Enrolment Application Fee.
However, any student applying for an Academic Scholarship, MUST lodge that application FIRST and pay the Enrolment Application Fee through the online process.
Music, Sport and Leadership Scholarship Applications may be submitted on the SAME Enrolment Application Form.
